(Non-profit) CLINICAL STAFF MANAGER – GRADY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL Henrietta Essel is the CEO, & Chief Nurse Executive for Serenity Empire Personal Care Homes and Vice President of Serenity Empire’s Global Investment Group. She is the founder of Mind the Mind Corp. and also a Clinical Manager at Grady Memorial Hospital. She is accountable for nursing practice across all of Serenity Empire Homes. Henrietta’s role includes all nursing practice for the residents, home health care and patient care services for respiratory therapy, pastoral services, clinical nutrition, social work, and nursing quality. She also provides advocacy, education, and continues elderly care training for her staff. As a Clinical Manager at Grady Memorial Hospital (Atlanta’s only ACS-verified Level I Trauma Center, only ABA-verified Burn Center and Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center), Henrietta supervises the day to day performance of nursing staff through ongoing assessment and coaching to achieve goals. Monitors service behaviors of cohort, coaching for consistency amongst all staff. Provides input for accurate preparation of the annual operating and capital budgets, including staffing issues, patient flow issues, and process change opportunities. Manages resources that achieve safe, cost effective, clinically appropriate patient care. Seeing the need in mental health at her birth country Ghana, she founded a nonprofit (Mind the Mind), serving communities that suffer from a lack of resources around mental health treatment. Henrietta received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Argosy University, Atlanta GA. She is a member of the Douglas County Chamber of Commerce, American Businesswomen’s Association, and American Nurses Association. She has received several honors and awards throughout her nursing career such as Daisy (Outstanding Nurse) Award from Grady Memorial Hospital and the Excellence in Nursing Practice Award from Wellstar Health System, to name a few. Henrietta is a Ghanaian-American whose nursing and business career has been dedicated to creating high quality, reliable systems of care and developing the next generation of nurses and health care professionals to lead in these ever-changing times.
